Northwest including Rockrimmon and Mountain Shadows
Northwest Colorado Springs is home to several wonderful neighborhoods. To the north are the neighborhoods of Rockrimmon, Woodmen Valley and Peregrine (Academy School District 20) and south of Vindicator Dr and west of Centennials are the neighborhoods of Mountain Shadows and Oak Valley Ranch (Colorado Springs School District 11).
Rockrimmon is rolling foothills with mature trees, wildlife, and abundant trails. Developed in the 1970s, the houses sit on curvy streets and harken back to days where every home had a unique style and a good sized lot. The Rockrimmon neighborhood is close to the US Air Force Academy, and has access to plentiful shopping and amenities. Rockrimmon homes average around $350k.
Peregrine is an upscale, newer Colorado Springs neighborhood in the northwest part of town that offers new and newer single family homes from both production and custom builders. Peregrine is named after the Peregrine Falcon (native bird of prey to this region) and is a beautiful, very popular, high-end Colorado Springs neighborhood located in Academy School district 20. Peregrine offers a wide range of luxury living real estate options and is nestled in the northwest corner of Colorado Springs in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. You will find wildlife at every turn; whether it is a herd of buck wandering in the open spaces, a fox skittering across the road or the native Peregrine falcon soaring overhead you will know immediately that you are in the beautiful Colorado Springs Rocky Mountains. Homes in Upper Peregrine are fully custom built and sit on spectacular lots with spanning views of both northern Colorado Springs and the Rocky Mountains. Lower Peregrine boats neighborhood settings with parks, schools, and trails. If you are looking for an upscale neighborhood in northwest Colorado Springs, Peregrine may be the neighborhood for you. Homes in Peregrine sell for the upper $400k’s to over $700k, depending on size and exact location.
Woodmen Valley is a more rural part of NW Colorado Springs, located between Rockrimmon and the US Air Force Academy.
Mountain Shadows has homes built from the 1980s and later, with most of the newer homes being custom built on larger lots. With beautiful views of the Front Range and abundant wildlife, Mountain Shadows sits in an ideal location for easy access to the city, shopping, and nearby amenities. The devastating Waldo Canyon Fire of 2012 destroyed hundreds of homes in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood. Because of this, many of the homes you see today are brand new. (See before and after photos of the Mountain Shadows neighborhood.)
