As a home buyer in Colorado Springs, using the first agent that you encounter may not be your best decision. You need to find someone that gives you both confidence and comfort.
But how do you find the best Buyer’s agent for YOUR NEEDS?
Here’s a few ways!
1. Talk to your friends, family, and coworkers who own their own homes. Ask who they used for their Buyer’s agent in Colorado Springs and if they would recommend that person. Ask a few questions about their experience with that agent – what they liked, disliked, how easy they were to work with, their overall satisfaction with the agent. From those recommendations, you can talk to those agents and make up your own mind.
Remember – YOU need to like the agent. Don’t pick an agent just because your sister loved them.
2. Call the office of a local real estate brokerage and ask to speak to the managing broker. Once you can speak with them, ask for a recommendation for a full-time Buyer’s agent with experience and time to help you find your next home in Colorado Springs. Often, the broker will help guide you to one or more agents that you can interview and select from.
3. There are specific designations that Buyer’s agents can get – they can take specific educational classes in order to call themselves an “Accredited Buyer Representative” or other similar designations. You can search through sites like this REBAC site to find people who have earned that designation. I’m of two minds for these designations. It’s a great way to find people who are willing to put the time in to better educate themselves so that they can serve their clients – but after you take the classes once, you can call yourself that forever – as long as you keep paying the designation company money every year. There’s often no continuing education requirement, which makes them less valuable in my mind.
Regardless of how you find your Buyer Agent candidates, make sure to interview them. It’s not a huge effort, but you should definitely ask them a few questions. A good Buyer’s Agent will be happy to answer any and all questions. To help you out, I’ve compiled seven questions to ask your potential Buyer’s Agent in Colorado Springs.
